Dental Hygiene And Prevention

Our Practice ethos is centred around prevention being better than cure. Our hygienists work hard to thoroughly clean your teeth but more importantly show you how best to maintain them in between visits.

A very common oral disease is gingivitis, an inflammation of the gum tissue, caused by plaque. If left untreated, gingivitis can lead to periodontal disease, which affects the tissue supporting the teeth. Untreated periodontal disease causes bad breath and may ultimately lead to tooth loss. Regular descaling with the dentist or hygienist is central to the prevention of these problems.

Most patients benefit from a visit every six months however if you are prone to gum disease we may suggest more frequent recalls.
